Albanian DanceTheater Company
Albanian Dance Theater Company is the first independent contemporary dance company in Albania, founded in March 2002 on the initiative of choreographer and artistic director Gjergj Prevazi. The main aim of the company is to develop a contemporary dance repertoire, offering a new dance aesthetic in Albania, by encouraging dancers and choreographers to reach more freedom on stage, through body language that is both individual and universal. Since its establishment, the company has had at least one new production every year, such as: Transition, Contrast, Lukja, We Were In, Covered Human Being, Wedding, Perfume, We Were In, Without Blood, Extreme Makeover-Culture Clash I and II, Controversial, Vital Space, Hybrid, Stress Biology, Reflect, Vote, Bold Soprano, Let’s Go, Object - I - fy, Nothin New Under this Sun, I always have a handkerchief in my pocket etc. Most of the productions were choreographed by Gjergj Prevazi, but also by other guest choreographers: Silvano Mozzini & Christiane Loch(Swiss), Katharina Maschenka Horn(Ger), Corinne Rochet & Nicolas Pettit(Swiss), Josseline Black & Anni Taskula(Aus), Oded Ronen & Joel Bray(Isr). Lately, the works of some young choreographers have become part of the company’s repertoire: Fjorald Doci, Rosella Pellicciotti, Robert Nuha and Akreoma Saliu. The company has toured in various festivals and international presentations such as Euro Scene - Leipzig, Off Europa Dresden, MESS Sarajevo, Tanz Schritt Weise Graz, Foktstheater Vienna, La Sfera Danza Padova, Skopje DansFest, Mot Festival Skopje, Ohrid Summer Festival, Corpi in Movimento - Sassari, Find Festival Cagliari, Quellicheladanza Linguaggi Della Danza Contemporanea (Salerno), Reja International Festival Tirana, Cairo International Experimental Theater Festival, HAPU Festival Prishtina, International Theater Festival Butrinti2000(Al), Skampa International Theater Festival, etc.
