PHREN

PHREN 1. diaphragm 2. mind

daily space intimate oasis extra-daily / free access personal universe / internal external / shared exposed dislocated / hidden / introverted / exposed close distance constricted space / presented eye-camera come close / game diaphragm breath mind / to be / seen by far enclosed freedom / camera participates complex frequencies / phren / phren / the slow tempo beats of the mind heart

I do this alone / I do it at home / I do it often...

The action takes place in an enclosed space of small dimensions. The minimalist ambience is reminding a hotel room or an angle of a living room. There is a big sofa, a woman on the ground and a man in the corner. The man films the woman from the close. The audience can peep in, four persons at the time, through little openings made on the room’s walls. Or they can watch what’s happening inside through the men’s camera at the big screen placed outside the room. Her action with no beginning nor end flows in a stream of words-movements-sounds-breaths, in a series of body-sound waves, in a sequence of low and high frequencies, creating a contradictory dynamic of exposition and introversion. Her doing is both the act of reveal and the act of hiding. She discloses her intimacy in-directly, un-protected, un-consciously. Concept / action Nhandan Chirco (Italy)
