INTERNATIONAL
FESTIVAL OF MODERN & CONTEMPORARY DANCE
12th Edition 04 October - 05 November 2017
The show debuted in
January 2005 at the Teatro Comunale Niccolini San Casciano Val di Pesa
(FI).
After the show " Giovanna D'Arco", which has received reports
and preferences for the prize in 2004 UBU section shows dance theater,
Julie Ann Anzilotti begins with the show " Cieli Sgangherati"
the first step in a three-year project "On Peace and the War ".
There is something so ridiculous as a war and so difficult to achieve
as peace: arguments large and complex to cope in a single show. That is
why we are talking about a first step in a path that proceeds through
these issues observer under various points of view and putting highlighted
facets and different aspects.
"Cieli Sgangherati" is an attempt to survey and analysis that
starting from their most intimate moments of war and peace, adds to confusion
about a world that seems to have no end and ends. It reveals the fears,
anger, but also the hope of peace brought by the smiles of children and
the joy of youth. The show confirms the continued and precise attention
of the research work of choreographer Julie Ann Anzilotti, through the
expressiveness stage of the theatre and dance together, eliminating the
verbal language to give "voice" to the movement, composition
of figures, music.
CURRICULUM VITAE
Company Xe was founded in 1991 by the choreographer and director Julie Ann Anzilotti, in order to broaden her research on the relationship between the choreographic and the theatrical languages. Besides producing dance shows, Company Xe organizes and cooperates with initiatives promoting dance: choreographic composition seminars, theatre dance seminars for a public of different age levels, internships in professional formation courses, participation in meetings of cultural socio-political interest. Julie Ann Ancilotti has become the artistic director of the company, creating all the choreographies represented during these years. She has also been invited to create for other dance companies such as Il Balletto di Spoleto. Company Xe is supported by the Ministry of Culture - Department of Performing Arts and by the Region Toscana - Centro Regionale per la Danza, and is in choreographic residence at the Teatro Comunale Niccolini of San Casciano Val di Pesa (FI). The choreographer Anzilotti is part of the Association Teatro Comunale Niccolini that runs the activity of the theatre together with the other theatre companies in residence Katzermaker of Alfonso Santagata and Arca Azzurra of Ugo Chiti.
The Theatre of Movement by Julie Ann Anzilotti.
Daughter of a toscan father and american mother, Julie
Ann studied psychology and practiced dance since she was a child. She began
acting with Aldo Rostagno, but it was her experience with Magazzini that
marks her "route".
From 1979 to 1985 she participated in the polyhydric activity of the group,
taking part in the manifesto-shows of the "New Theatre", such
as: Punto di rottura, Crollo nervoso, Sulla strada, and most of all, in
the trilogy Perdita di memoria: Genet a Tangeri, Ritratto dell'attore da
giovane, Vita immaginaria di Paolo Uccello.
In 1983 with Roberta Gelpi and Virgilio Sieni, she founded Parco Butterfly,
the group in which to experiment an articulated equilibrium between theatre
and dance. Starting with Momenti d'ozio and ending with Inno al rapace,
that experience will have its symbolic peak in Shangai neri dedicated to
the "different" perception of the blind.
After the dissolution of Parco Butterfly, Julie Ann has continued her work
as author, director and choreographer in a very personal research on the
mixture, never given for granted, of voice and movement, practiced in the
areas just right between theatre and dance, performance and events, that
limbo where the gesture marries the word and the theatre is essentially
the presence of the actor-dancer. The cleanliness of the gesture, the reaching
of its essentiality, the exhausting slowness of certain crossings of space,
the emptiness of silence and the fullness of presence are only some of the
items of an alphabet through which Julie Ann has composed a systematic and
coherent poetical procedure starting from
- Tempi "Times" (1989) passing through:
- Orizzonte di cani "Horizons of dogs" (1990)
- Lame "Blades" (1991)
- Torrenti infuocati "Burning Streams" (1992)
- Herodiade, Fame di vento "Herodiade. Hunger of Wind" (1993)
- Stasera - Della Giovinezza "Tonight - About Youth" (1994)
- Jeanne,Johanne,Jeannette (1995)
- Insurgentas (1996)
- Giuditta (1997)
- Duetti Guerriglieri "Warrior Duets" (1997)
- Tris (1998) arriving to the new production:
- La strana festa "A Special Party" (1999)
In November 2000 has its premiere "Furious Notes"
inspired by the film "The Rage" by Pier Paolo Pasolini.
The latest work is "W Gep-eTTo", that has been presented in November
2001, freely taken by " The Adventures of Pinocchio" by Carlo
Lorenzini.
These are chapters of an investigation on women issues, ranging from visual
arts to literature and poetry to cinema and music. With regards to the musical
aspects, always important in Julie Ann's creations, the encounter with Steven
Brown (leader of the cult group Tuxedo Moon) has been fundamental. He composed
the original scores of most of the shows and he also played on live in Lame,
such as he plays in La strana festa. Alighiero Boetti, an artist among the
top interpreters of the conceptual art, has created the visual installation
of Herodiade.
